Dr. Bahaur Amini is a licensed psychologist offering a range of services to meet the diverse needs of her clients. She provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy to adolescents and adults via telehealth across the state of California. Telehealth allows individuals to find a comfortable, convenient, and private space for therapy sessions as well as access to therapists like Dr. Amini by reducing geographic limitations.
Dr. Amini earned her Ph.D in Counseling Psychology. She has experience providing psychotherapy, consultation, outreach, and supervision services across various settings. She has extensive experience working with students, young adults, and high level executives and leaders.
Dr. Amini specializes in working with issues related to relationships, family, identity, stress, life transitions, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, grief and loss, cultural concerns, and improving one’s well-being. She is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest research and techniques in the field of psychology.
Dr. Amini received her Master of Science degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family followed by a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. She is currently practicing as a Licensed Psychologist in California and will soon be licensed in New York and offering services via telehealth.

Dr. Amini’s approach to therapy is grounded in multicultural, strengths-based, psychodynamic, attachment, and systemic theories. In her work with clients, she considers the whole person, their past, and their environment. She shapes her approach based on culture, identity, and client goals. Her style can be described as relational, trauma-sensitive, emotion focused, creative, and exploratory.
As a relational therapist, she recognizes that connection, trust and understanding are foundational for growth. She helps clients understand their relationships, roadblocks, and what they can do to create change. Her specialized training in trauma-informed therapy increases her awareness that a person's previous trauma/experiences can show up in unexpected and unusual ways. Whether they desire to heal from past traumas, more deeply understand who they are, or strengthen their connections with others, she can help.
In addition to her specialized clinical training in working with BIPOC clients, Her research, leadership, and advocacy efforts are focused on amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities. Through her active engagement in these areas, she continually enhances her understanding of the challenges and strengths within these communities in personal and professional settings, and integrates this deepened awareness into her clinical practice.
She is cognizant of her client's intersecting identities, unique needs and circumstances and tailors her approach in therapy to consider these factors.
Most importantly, she prioritizes providing a comfortable, accepting, collaborative, and empowering environment for clients as she joins them in their journey towards change. Dr. Amini is passionate about her work and is dedicated to assisting clients identify their challenges and build confidence in their ability to manage the distress in their life while finding healing and growth.
In addition to my clinical practice, I offer professional development workshops and private training sessions for trainees and professionals looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in mental health with a strong emphasis on diversity. I have over 5 years of experience providing trainings to community mental health clinics, university counseling centers, private practice's, and community organizations on diversity and inclusion-related topics.
I also offer interactive and experiential speaking engagements on various mental health topics. Whether it's a conference, workshop, or seminar, I deliver engaging and informative presentations that connect with your audience.
